What is PwnDroid?
PwnDroid is an Android app, published by xBitsNL Gaming, that works with a Pwnagotchi: a small open-source device for Wi-Fi research that you own. Your phone and the Pwnagotchi connect over Bluetooth tethering or your local network. PwnDroid then sends your phone’s GPS to the unit, so every network it records gets a location, and shows you what the unit is doing.
Features
- Share GPS: stream your phone’s location to one or more units while sharing is on, with a notification and a Stop button.
- Devices: add your units by address, see their screen and status, and restart or shut them down.
- Handshakes and map: every captured handshake, with its network name and the place it was captured, as a list and on an OpenStreetMap map.
- Setup guide: install and configure the companion plugin from inside the app.
- No account and no ads. Your devices and handshakes stay on your phone. See the Privacy Policy.
Setting up the plugin
PwnDroid needs the pwndroid plugin on your Pwnagotchi and a working
bt-tether connection to your phone. On the unit, run:
sudo pwnagotchi plugins update
sudo pwnagotchi plugins install pwndroid
Then enable it in your configuration:
main.plugins.pwndroid.enabled = true
main.plugins.pwndroid.display = false # show coordinates on the display
main.plugins.pwndroid.display_altitude = false # show altitude on the display
The plugin keeps retrying the connection, so it doesn’t matter which you start first. Turn on Share GPS in the app, and captured handshakes show up on the Handshakes and Map screens.
